Clean Install XP Pro T61p Unknown Device

#1 Post by shfawaz » Sat Dec 22, 2007 7:13 am

I've searched far and wide, and can't figure out the lone yellow flag in my device manager under other only identified as other device. I've installed all the power management features including IBMPM and MS power managers, SDIO, 4in1 reader, HD audio, secure card, modem, and all of the intel patches and drivers and still no joy getting rid of this pesky flag. I've gone thru the entire list of drivers on Lenovo's driver matrix and can't figure this one out. This machine had a native Vista Ultimate pre-load. Any suggestions or ideas of what this mystery device could be would be appreciated.

Download Unknown Device Identifier to identify the device.

Also, have you installed Trusted Platform Module (Atmel TPM)?
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Thanks. Yes I have the TPM module installed. The program you suggested is great, but it doesn't show any yellow unknown devices despite it still being there in device manager.

Clicking on properties of this device, and location, I get:

on Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2811

Any more ideas here?

Read a post on notebook review and took a suggestion that referred to the Thinkpad Client Security solution software and installed it. That eliminated the mysterious device. Thanks for the help.
