finger print scan problems
finger print scan problems
Ever since I installed 'ThinkVantage Fingerprint software for Windows Vista 32-bit, Windwos XP and Windows 2000' Version 5.6.2.3650, logon behavior has never been the same.
now instead of being able to just swipe my finger, it says something like:
Please wait...
or press Ctrl+Alt+Del
I wait for a while and the hdd act light stops blinking and noting happens. When I press Ctrl+Atl+Del, I have to press 'Ok' before I can swipe my finger. Is this happening to anyone else??

You can go to Control Center of ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software and change the settings.

I couldn't get mine to work one time, so I re-did everything from scratch. Delete the fingerprints in the BIOS, make sure to TURN OFF pre-desktop authentication, unless you're also letting it use simple password(s), re-download the Fingerprint software (make sure it's v5.6), install it, and re-do your fingerprints, along with the BIOS settings if that's what you want pre-desktop authentication. Hasn't given me a problem since. This was on another T60p I owned, and on WinXP. But after fixing it, it worked on both XP and Vista.charredii wrote:it seems to be loading or preparing for something. i can't really get a good picture of it, but i tried repairing the installation or reinstalling the fingerprint software, but my log on dialog is no loger:
swipe finger or press Ctrl+Alt+Del
can anyone help?
Good luck.

turn off windows settings? you gotta use thinkvantage fingerprint and then change it to standard windows logon.
For your problem tho, change it to convinient mode instead of secure mode.

You can also go into the BIOS, and erase the fingerprints, enable and disable the security chip, etc. I recently had to do that, as it still had a previous installation's data stored in the BIOS. What's your BIOS version? The security chip works great for me now. Hope this helps.
