T60P LCD panel replacement - What kind of glue/resin to use?

I am replacing the broken 15" LCD panel on my T60P.
When I was removing the broken panel there was a kind of resin/glue used to hold the plastic bezel and the metal cover of the LCD panel. This resin/glue was applied on just one side and it is the inner side of the bottom portion of the bezel - where the LED indicators are.
It certainly is not rubber cement. The bezel came off with little effort so I don't think it is any of those acid based instant glues. Without any glue/resin there is space left between the bezel and the panel (not the case on the other 3 sides).
Does anyone know what kind of resin/glue that Lenovo may have used to hold plastic and steel? Please let me know of any other recommendations of how to go about applying the resin/glue and sewing it up.
Thanks!
