Finally upgraded my machine, to a T61p!!

Have noticed that by default the dos ps2 command is no longer available.

So just a question of confirmation really, that the hvexpansion option, cosmetically I've always liked to have switched off, is nolonger available or works with the newest T-series laptops.

Is this right? If so is there an alternate way to get it so that on start up the screen resolution is not vga. I guess this could be another feature of nvidia as opposed to ATI?

Black screen startup Screen Expansion is normally available in the BIOS. That may do what you wish. Windows resolution is a Windows responsibility. ... JDH

You're right that it used to be in the BIOS also, but alas no longer at least not on my T61p with the latest BIOS version.

The PS2 command would alter some of these BIOS settings.

Its cosmetic really, it was much nicer to see the boot up screens in "normal" resolution than just a mass of fluffy words etc. I use the hardware profile feature in XP so always get a menu on startup, thats why the HVEP switch was so nice to have.

I just want to know if others can see "normal" resolution on startup or the VGA view with large "fluffy" characters!! or if there something about my computer that's not set.

I've installed the PS2 utility, but the PS2 HVEXP OFF option runs but the screen resolution does not change!

Hmm, I am setting up a T60 (my first T6x, since I like the T4x for slightly smaller size and weight). The T60 sports a "PS2 ?" command in a DOS shell. I don't know about the T61. ... JDH
