Express card slot Compact flash memory and ready boost
Express card slot Compact flash memory and ready boost
I recently bought an 8-1 express slot memory card reader.
I should have read it more, cause it does not support compact flash.
Anyone have/use a express card adapter for compact flash?
Since I have the expess slot adapter and spare 1gig memory cards can this be utlized for readyboost???

actual RAM is cheaper than the combo you're thinking of. DDR2 memory is so cheap compared to DDR1. I have a T42 and envy you people with sweet prices for DDR2!!

Yeah agree, the price is quite high - Another alternative is: If your notebook has a PCMCIA type ll slot you could use this:

This is definitely alot cheaper!

why would it be in the wrong post? I was saying to buy a expresscard reader would probably equal the price of 1GB of RAM or something. The more RAM you have the better the system runs and after a while it doesn't even make sense to have readyboost. If you have 512MB and you get a 1GB readyboost thingy then yeah but to go buy that for readyboost doesn't make much sense. You can buy 1GB of RAM for about the same price as both of those combined.gregarpp wrote:actual RAM is cheaper than the combo you're thinking of. DDR2 memory is so cheap compared to DDR1. I'm using this AFT Atech Flash PROExpress-7 ExpressCard Reader Single Media Card Slot with a 4 GB SD card. This works with Vista for ready boost. The first AFT card I got died after a few hours,
the second has been running for a few weeks now. Also you can't use more than 4 GB for the ready boost at this point.
This card fits within the Express card slot, and on my T60p doesn't block the Cardbus slot if you are using something like a Linksys WiFi card. Or a card that blocks the second slot.
