I just did a clean XP install, and I am having some problems getting the speakers in my T60 to work again.

I tried to download and install the 77a224ww audio driver for T60 from lenovo. Then I to let windows search for the driver via device manager - it didn't find anything.

When I go to control panel -> Sound and Audio devices, it sais No Audio device.

EDIT: I actually can't install the drivers from lenovo.. When I try to install it sais: The HDA audio bus driver is required and not found - WTF :?: I need a driver to install my driver?

Anyone..?

SOLVED

This problem has something to do with a microsoft update called KB888111.. allthough you can't download it on their website (woohoo.. what a suprise) you can find it on your recovery partition.

If you are stupid like me and didn't make a copy of it before doing a clean install there is allways kind souls on the internet.

http://www.box.net/public/ireki91lls

Install that and then install the audio drivers from lenovo.

EDIT: Well.. Now I am able to install the drivers, and everything looks fine in windows.. xp finds my sound card like it should and from what it sais now everything should be ay okay...
But... I am still completely unable to hear ANY sound come form my speakers? nothing.. nada.. niente.. No matter what I've tried..
Ive tried updating everything,, even the chipset.. nothing!..

EDIT:
SOLUTION
Uninstall EVERYTING that has anything to do with your sound card. Also uninstall the KB888111 hotfix if you have allready installed it.
restart.
Install KB888111 hotfix, then install the 77a224ww driver.
restart, and everything should be working ay okay. It did for me.

You can also get it from the Drivers and software - ThinkPad T60, T60p then scroll down to the Windows XP Update Module Q888111. :)

Isn't this just great. Now my sound suddenly isn't working anymore.
The solution I wrote in my second post worked.. temporarily.

Now there absolutely no sound coming out of my speaker.. Again.
External devices such as earphones, speakers does work.

I tried to do what i did the last time, as stated in #2.
But nothing helps.. wtf is this kind of a problem!
