I heard from someone and saw them available on the website when I wrote that.

Did you call in to check from a sales rep? Things you see on the website are not everything you can buy, for e.g. you can still call in to order a pre-configured thinkpad directly from lenovo which will only take 5 days to reach your doorsteps as compared to 3-4 weeks wait time for CTO models.

Perhaps they're keeping the penryn CPUs off the website to release the merom stock first.

The T61p's can run in a "reduced 667MHz" mode? Does that I mean I could conceivably install a T9300?? Theoretically speaking only, without the socket M vs. P scenario? Is the chip the same size as a T7600? Does it necessitate DDR3 RAM, or would it, again, all of this pure hypothetical, be able to run in a "reduced DDR2" RAM mode?

you can't install a penryn processor in a T60p without also installing a T61p system planar.

It was only a dream anyway lol...My second T60p has arrived. Now I need a T61p motherboard, so I can try this little project of mine.

Ok, here's the thing.

I've tried calling Lenovo Canada sales for the past 3 days now to inquire as to when/if Penryn CPUs are available on the t-series, and all I get is a recorded message stating that "we cannot take your call - please call again later" or something to that effect.

Anyone with knowledge regarding when Lenovo Canada will start offering Penryn processors CTO?

Lenovo Canada has having a lot of problems lately after the implementation of new system, from training staff to making the new system work after removing the old IBM's, once they get problems sorted out they'll offer models with Penryn processor, as I previously said; Penryn equipped thinkpads are available but not being offered due to these minor issues.

T8100? What's the point?

I get the same message when I try to call Lenovo Canada. "Please call again later". Makes me very frustrated and disappointed with Lenovo.

I want a T61P with T9300 - and it's available everywhere else so why not Canada!!!

Because Canada's an insignificant market for Lenovo. By the time they sort out their "problem" of "porting IBM to Lenovo" ticket rides to the moon will be cheaper than the prices on their current systems. Honestly, what company in their right mind performs a wholesale change of a critical element of their business without fully testing it first??? It's really absurd.

BTW, that's exactly the combo I'm looking to get !!! But, of course, I'm giving this a couple of more weeks.

Oh yeah, BTW, ryengineer the rep told me that Lenovo Canada doesn't sell any pre-configured systems anymore (neither online nor through their direct sales dep't). Pre-configured systems are only available through third-party vendors.
