"USB Device Not Recognized"

#1 Post by Pocket Aces » Wed Jan 09, 2008 10:19 pm

Sooo, I have a T61p, and at some random time when I'm using it, I'll hear that two-tone sound that Windows makes when a USB device is disconnected (I'm certain that no physical device is actually disconnected). Then, a couple of seconds later, I'll get a balloon pop-up that says that a USB device is not recognized. When I click it for more information, it gives me a window of USB devices, most of which say "Unused port" (although it would also be nice if someone can explain why it says I have 6 ports). Anyway, the culprit is listed as "Unknown Device", which always happens to be Port_#0006.Hub_#0007. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm using Vista x64 by the way, from a clean install (I could have missed a driver).

EDIT: Okay, I just realized that it's the UWB radio. However, that still doesn't explain why it keeps disconnecting itself.

i have the exact same problem under vista x64.   since i have no use for UWB right now, i disabled both WQST110 devices under USB controllers in the device manager.

Looks like I am not alone. I got exact same problem under vista x64 for UWB device. Any good suggestion except disable it from BIOS?

Thank you for the link but after reading this thread I believe the problem is different. The message is the same but Wireless USB (Ultra WideBand) uses PCIe slot.

Admittedly, it was a shot in the dark. :? After all, I wasn't quite sure what "UWB" stood for . . . On your way then.

Did anyone solve this? I had the problem under Vista Ultimate x64 and I still have the problem under Windows 7 Professional x64.

I might follow Erik's solution, but I'd rather just get it solved.

Hi,

I've recently installed a Lenovo WQST110 UWB card to my X301 and the same problem occurs at random times under Windows 7 64-bit.

Has anyone found a solution for this annoying problem?

Thanks in advance
