Where to get ATI driver 8.293.1.0 (dated 9 / 3 / 2006)

Hi

I have a problem where my screen size is changed when I close the laptop lip with it still running. This happened after I updated the ATI driver to the most recent version, as suggested by the update manager.

I found a post outlining this problem here:

and the suggested fix is to rollback to the ATI driver 8.293.1.0 (dated 9 / 3 / 2006).

I have tried rolling back with windows (device manager - rollback on the Driver page of the graphics card: ATI Mobility FireGL V5200) but nothing much seems to be happening, the driver version seems to remain at 8.383.1.1000

I sent in a support request to lenovo asking for the driver, but I just get a reply stating that my warranty support is over.

Does anyone know where I can get this version of the driver from?

Hopefully the ATI driver you want still exists in a folder within your ThinkPad - try the following locations:

C:\DRIVERS\Display
C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY
C:\IBMTOOLS\drivers\display

If you manage to find the display folder(s) - open them and click the SWI.xml file to check the software version.

I can't find the file version you are looking for on Lenovo's website - they may have removed it. The version I am running is 8.293.1-060913a-036475C (September 26, 2006 - Application file 79d162ww)

I see you are in the UK - if you can not find it PM me and will burn and put in post.

thanks for that! i found an old driver in:
C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\VIDEO

version: 8.204-051220a1-031127C-Lenovo

installed and it did the trick!

Awesome, I can close my laptop and find everything afterwards!
