T61- System Update: outdated Intel GM965 Chipset support!?

howdy,

setting up my new hdd manually, I come across the following situation:

Intel Chipset Support for the GM965
is offered from systemupdate in version 8201012, dated 08/28/07

Intel itself offers version 8.3.1.1009, dated 9/24/2007

any comments on that, please!?

System Update is always slower on the updates.

T42p - Pentium M 1.8Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB 7200 RPM, ATI Mobility FireGL T2 128MB
T61p - Core 2 Duo 7300, 3 GB RAM, 320 GB 7200 RPM, nVidia Quadro FX 570M 256MB

Bought a T430 that's still on BIOS v2.61. Latest version is 2.72. I know that large jumps forward in BIOS versions can sometimes result in problems....
