WWLAN (3G/ UMTS) card working on T60

#1 Post by ftivolle » Wed Jan 16, 2008 8:58 pm

Hello, we have many T60 running windows XP and windows Vista.
We are trying to setup a 3G card on these and all are failing.
We can:
-1- install the card
-2- check signal strength
-3- when starting the connection, the thinkpad gives us a BSOD. = hard crash on the T60 running windows XP.
-4- This can be re done on another T60 with fresh XP install + thinkvantage utilities.

We tryed 4 different cards 2 PCMCIA and 2 Expresscard.

We have no problems on 1 thinkpad running windows Vista but the windows xp ones are crashing.

Does someone could recommend me a 3G card known to work on Windows XP on the T60?

Thanks for any advice.

Rather than blame the card, its the drivers you want to see if you can get a different version of.

Thanks for your advice:
I have contacted the supplier to get an updated drivers.

But the strange thing is that I am having the same crash with cards from different compagnies.

It is the only part where the drivers are not availables for download on the internet.

If someone knows a working 3G card for a windows xp T60, let me know.

Thanks.

I have successfully been using two Sierra Wireless 3G AirCards (AC850 & AC875 PCMCIA) with their generic drivers and software on my T60p (with XP) - I have experienced no problems - they are both un-locked and works a-ok on T-Mobile, Orange and 3 (UK networks).

I have used three different high-speed mobile internet cards in my T60 and none had problems, Windows XP SP2 (custom install). AirCard 850, Huawei E620 (also available in Europe as Vodafone branded 1,8Mbps HSDPA card) and Huawei EC500 (Czech Republic only, 450MHz CDMA EV-DO Rev. 0). All PCMCIA.

Thanks to Zender and Peak2Peak for your feedback.
I will list the reference of the cards giving us trouble soon.

Other feedback on 3G card is welcome. Thanks.

Here is the list of card that makes our T60 windows XP crash with a BSOD when launching the 3G connection. (Before connection, everything works as expected, status and signal strengh is visible and fine).

* 3G ZTE
*Qualcomm: GT0201
* Qualcomm: GE0201

If someone does have one of these cards working on a T60 with windows XP I'll be interested in knowing which version of the drivers is used.
Also if someone had the same trouble than me I'll be interested in knowing it too.
Thanks for any information
