imaged new 100gb/7200rpm drive yesterday from a volume license edition of xp sp2 and installed bare minimum lenovo drivers (ethernet, wireless, nvidia video)

after setup, used the lenovo system updater and allowed it to install critical updates and also soundmax

installation was uneventful and everything was working, wired and wireless network, sound, mouse, video, etc.

then couple hours later upon reboot and reload of OS, got greeting at desktop that the Audio Bus/Soundmax needed to be reinstalled and the mouse was frozen solid, had to use alt-esc to navigate keyboard only to reboot. next reboot, everything was working. couple hours later, after another reboot (yes, I deliberately tested reboot to see what would happen), the same thing, SoundMax would need reinstall

I finally did uninstall it and now Hardware manager has an angry yellow icon with Audio Bus something....

is this a known issue with Soundmax? I even downloaded directly from ibm online support the very latest audio package installation but same results.

I supposed I don't need digital audio but was surprised it conflicted with the mouse/touchpad drivers?

Hi,

you´ll need a micrososoft update KB888111,
in order to reinstall your audio driver.

hi,

that´s strange. It may be, that something with your image is wrong
and a clean installation would fix it?

Cause, Kb888111 have to be installed, in order to intall soundmax.

Is Kb888111 listed in control-software? Because sometimes it
dissapears, for Example, when you use a reg clean up utillity.

Good Luck!

you did not mention it but I am guessing that soundmax should be removed before installing kb888111?

then reboot, then install kb888111, reboot again, then install soundmax ?

anything else?

Hi henni,

sorry, but i don´t have a suggestion.

Strange is, that your mouse freezes. I think there is obviously
something other wrong with your machine.

maybe you try a linux live cd to test your hardware, especially the mouse freezing.

Good luck!
