i searched throught the forums, but could not find an answer. How does one know if dual channel mode is enabled for the RAM or is it done automatically when the same type modules are installed. I know that if i add mor ram to my comp i wont be able to notice the full 4 gigs so should i just do three?
TIA

you'll never notice the difference between dual- and single-channel mode unless you're a robot.

i searched for "dual channel" and found some recent threads on this topic:

Also, with a t6x look up "Intel Flex Memory" You should have dual channel even with 3GB.

If you have 3GB installed, you'll have asymmetric dual-channel, which is practically worthless unless you hard-wire a performance test to read memory in a very specific way.

But if you install 4GB, you'll get symmetric dual-channel (even if only the first 3GB is recognized by your system). With symmetric, you'll see a (roughly) 6-8% memory speed improvement when running memory benchmarks. But the difference is negligible in real-would use.
