Zenders site is currently down, why it's hard to help out with redirection.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Hello everyone.
If you need to access the site right now, please use endeer.cz domain instead of any other you might have.
@etronic As for Lenovo-branded 4965AGN, that one is not whitelisted in T60. If you want 802.11n without BIOS patch, then there are some Lenovo-branded Atheros cards which will work. Or you can you the modified BIOS.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I'm looking for a patched version of the bios for the following 2 notebooks:
Thinkpad X61 Tablet (7767)
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-68005
Thinkpad R61i (8932)
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-68185
The links are to the latest versions of the firmwares. These intel cards are killing me, I'm trying to switch to broadcom chipset wifi cards and I ran into this road block with Lenovo that leaves me really angry with them!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I'm guessing that Zender is busy because he hasn't got back to me, can anyone else send me a copy of the hacked bios for a IBM T60 (1951-FDY).
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Zender,
Just have to say:
Your bios mod worked like a charm for my friends T43 1871-CTO (replacement motherboard in a T42). Thanks again.
Regards,
Choo2X

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I have a Z61M (Type 9450-A36) and a T60 (Type 2623-D3U) and bought some Lenovo branded Intel 4965AGN MM1 cards (FRU: 42T0865). The Z61M gets the 1802 error and I haven't checked the T60.
Additionally, are there any 802.11n cards whitelisted for these models? In researching the HMM, it looks like the Atheros FRU 42T0825 will work for both of these models. Can anyone confirm that?

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Well, I did put an Lenovo OEM Atheros ABGN card into my T60 and it it didn't stop the T60 from booting, but the card was generally a failure for me as the 802.11n performance wasn't as good as an X61 with an Intel $965AGN and it also interferred with the Bluetooth channel operation on the T60. I don't recall what the FRU of the card was, sorry.reeler wrote:Additionally, are there any 802.11n cards whitelisted for these models? After that expereince, I got hold of Zender's T60 BIOS and installed an Intel 4965AGN in the T60, which has been very successful.
The T60s generally only have two WiFi antennas installed, so to get full 802.11n MIMO capability you need to find a way to get a third antenna into the ThinkPad. I put an antenna (bought off eBay) under the palm rest... you can just get one in on either side of the Ultranav panel.
At first I put it on the right hand side (where there is a bit more room), but as I rest my hand on the right hand palm rest when using the track point, it wasn't very effective there. Later I moved the antenna to the left hand side (where I rarely rest my hand) and found that for me with it located there, the 802.11n performance is a good as my later model ThinkPads that came from the factory with three WiFi antennas installed.
Cheers,
Bill B.
Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I have the third antennas that I also bought on eBay. Sounds like I should go for the modified BIOS rather than the Atheros card. Zender has now hooked me up on my two Thinkpads. I'll do the surgery this weekend and let everyone know if it goes well. Thanks!
Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I modified the Lenovo BIOS updater per Zender's instructions. However, I can't get it loaded onto my computer. The updater detects that my machine (X301) already has the latest BIOS and will not install the patched one. Any suggestions?

to force update when you already have this version, boot to command line, type command and hit enter to use Lenovo's update tool. This is according to Zender's instructions, If you have a security chip, you might need to disable it as well.
Good luck!
Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Thank you.
I actually did it by running the Winphlash program packaged with the Lenovo updater. Now I have the WWAN working. Many thanks to Zender as well.

Thanks Zender,I learned so much from you.
I had a T400-CTO laptop last week and I need to install a 5720 WWAN adapter for my work.
Of course,I saw a "1804" error when laptop starts.
Would you please give the download website of T400 BIOS update?
Thank you!

Dear Zender,
I am ready to try the suggested patched BIOS, I have Lenovo T400 (2765 22G) with the SIM module ready, I bought new OPTION GTM-378E WWAN 3G card unlocked. I got error 1804 when I installed the new card and the system is unable to work unless I uninstall the new card.
Please advice.

Bill, did you try that Atheros card in any post-T60 model? If so, did it affect your BT performance on those machines?bill bolton wrote:Well, I did put an Lenovo OEM Atheros ABGN card into my T60 and it it didn't stop the T60 from booting, but the card was generally a failure for me as the 802.11n performance wasn't as good as an X61 with an Intel $965AGN and it also interferred with the Bluetooth channel operation on the T60. I did try it very briefly in a 14" T61, while trying to narrow down the BT interference issue, and had similar problems.Radioguy wrote:Bill, did you try that Atheros card in any post-T60 model?

Ah, OK. I have the same card in my 15.4" T61 now, and I'm not seeing an impact so far. However, my usage has been restricted to mice up to this point. (Range seems the same with, or without, the N card installed)

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I had some flakiness with BT mouse operation, but the real killer was using BT with my mobile phone and BT headphones, where there was a much lower level of redundant information in the source data, so any interference with the BT data stream had a much greater impact.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Don't boot from the CD, but keep the CD in the driver.
Select "Run..." in the Start menu and type in "command", navigate to the CD inside this command line utility (CD D:\) and type the following command (flash2 /u), you can most likely do the whole thing directly under the "Run..." as D:\flash2 /u.
assuming your CD drive is on the D drive.
Good Luck,
arc
The reason for the error is that you have the same version of BIOS installed already, why you have to force it in by the /u attribute.
You can always d/l an official earlier Lenovo version and install that one first, these normally tell you that you are downgrading. Once installed, boot from the CD.

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Hello all, I have a T60p 2007-WUK that came with the Intel 3945abg MiniPCI card, and I pulled a Intel 4965AGN from a dead T61 (not a p model). I get the dreaded 1802 at boot with the 4965AGN installed and have read several posts discussing Zenders Bios to get past this. Other than already bothering Zender with a PM, is there is anyone who has this bios who can send it to me or if there is a website to go get it from? I even pulled out the white third RO antenna with the metal receiving end from the display enclosure! Now I can rig my T60p with the third antenna to get the 2X3 MIMO capability from the Cisco AP1252's. I know when Cisco certified the 1252's (now with the Marvell Radios as Cisco doesn't use Atherios silicon anymore) with the 802.11N Wifi Alliance most of their compatibility testing was done with the Intel 4965AGN chipset. Reading through the threads, it appears that all I need is to find this Bios, install it, install the 4965 & white RO Antenna, and shazam? No need to tape off the switch pin anymore? This would be great and if anyone has the correct bios or knows where I can get it please PM me (I already PM'd Zender but imagine he is swamped).
Thank you very much in advance

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Hey thanks to Zender and everyone that helped me out! That Bios did the trick and my 4965AGN is working like a charm! I even connected at an m15 data rate on the 5Ghz AP1252 and it is blasing fast compared to my 3945. It also fixed my problems with my Cisco Secure Services wireless client that I thought was a Windows 7 beta issue. Now everything is working perfect again. This is sweet, thanks to all that helped. My wireless switch even still works

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
I burned the ISO file for a T60 downloaded from Zender's site (thanks Zender!) but I have encountered a strange problem.
After booting the T60 from this ISO file, I get this error message and no command prompt is available:
Strangely, there's no config.sys on the burned disk to disable loading the emm386.exe
EDIT: Problem solved
The culprit was Nero CD burner. After burning the CD with PowerISO, the problem disappeared.
After booting the T60 from this ISO file, I get this error message and no command prompt is available:
Code: Select all
EMM386: Warning:Addres sline A20 Already enabled
EMM386: Cannot find an unused 64 kB range of upper memory to use for an EMS page frame
EDIT: Problem solved
The culprit was Nero CD burner. After burning the CD with PowerISO, the problem disappeared.

I have a t60p 2623 DLU. I'm trying to install the dell 1490 wlan card. I've tried searching for Zender's modified BIOS for my machine in the domain he gave but it seems to be down. Can someone PM me to send me the modded bios for this machine?
The modded BIOS disables the whitelist check right?
Thanks
