Is there a plan to update the T60 BIOS to 2.25? It has some Win7 fixes that would be nice to have.

I installed yesterday the modified version of version 2.23 for the T60.
Worked fine I only needed to deactivate the security chip temporarely.

Installed the Intel (R) WiFi Link AGN
Everythink works great 300Mbit connection, Wifilight is working and Fn+F5 button and software works perfect.

did anybody have experiences with the Intel 5100 Wireless Card in the T60? Will it also works with the modified BIOS?

I have an R500, and I bought an Intel WiFi Link 5300AGN several days ago, and yes, I got the 1802 error too...

I have not so much experience with notebooks and flashing notebook BIOSes so, I'm hesitating now, becuse I think that the flashing of my R500 with a modded BIOS is a bit too risky. (Or not!? ) I'm worrying about making something wrong and crashing my notebook.

Has somebody made a successful BIOS flash on his/her R500 yet? Is it worth to take a risk to make this upgrade or I have nothing to worry about because it is safe? Is there anybody who have bad experiences in this topic?

There is always an inherent risk of bricking your laptop by upgrading the BIOS. Also remember that Lenovo most likely won't fix your laptop as a result of flashing an unofficial BIOS. If something goes wrong, you have a $500+ brick.
The question thus turns into this: Are you brave enough to try to get a $50 card to work by running the risk of owning a $500+ brick? I'm sure you'll be able to arrive at a decision by yourself.

Actually, when we talk about modified BIOS, which someone has already tried, the risk of something going brick-wrong is the same as with official BIOS, and if it happens, my opinion is this:
a) if it happens with modified BIOS, it would happen even with original BIOS, so it would be desirable for Lenovo to honour the warranty
b) it's quite hard to detect that it happened during an unofficial BIOS flash, so I highly doubt they would find out - the only way would be reading the chip which holds the BIOS by direct connection to it on motherboard, or by desoldering it and reading it externally - provided the modified parts were actually saved
Most laptop vendors provide fail safe method in case of BIOS update going awry, so I really hope that Lenovo not doing so is because of security and not profit.
Also it's definitely possible to modify BIOS so that the machine does not boot as a result of that modification - and that might be easily detectable by a knowledgeable person - so that's different.

From what I understand the BIOS is actually stored in a separate chip on the motherboard. To read the information of a failed BIOS flash all you need is to cut the solder joints, pull out that chip and put it into a special device to read or flash it (which Lenovo is certain to have).
But then again, I don't know how to modify BIOS, so who am I to talk about BIOS modifications
I just feel that it's reasonable to warn somebody before doing a BIOS flash on his brand new computer. But you're right Zender, if people have been successful in flashing their BIOS, the chance of bricking does go down significantly.

AvalonXIII: I definitely do believe Lenovo as a whole has the means to do so, but my guess is that less than one machine of thousand "brick" warranty claims gets checked this way. And also that out of all the machines sold, much less than 0.1% gets a modified BIOS during its lifespan, so they don't really have to care - the benefit gained by disapproving warranty claims wouldn't justify the cost of the checking.

Actually, I think you may not need modified BIOS at all, but also that the card may not work even with modified BIOS. The key is the card uses PCIe bus (at least they say so on the website) and the half-length miniPCIe slot may not be wired to the laptop's PCIe bus, only to USB bus. I do not know. But if it is wired, the BIOS check is for USB device, so PCIe should work without any modification.

Yeah I have a WiFi link 5100 working with zenders Bios on a T60 so it works.
And i think you earlyier fry your cpu than something go's wrong while updating your bios.

Yeah i fried it en replaced it by a core 2 duo (bright side is it runs windows 7 64-bit)

Now my next problems are getting a high resolution sreen for my t60 and getting the same wireless card working on a HP 6710b.
But this is the wrong forum to find a solution to that problem.

Yeah I quit my job at IBM Netherlands ([censored] company, managers, managers and managers).
But still have my IBM T60 and a HP 6710b.

I found several bioses for Thinkpads here.
Yesterday I tried the SLIC 2.1 version of T60 and it successfully activated W7 Ultimate with the Lenovo certificate. Some of them has the whitelist removed. Just read the pages!

Alrighty, I am now running an Intel 5300 Ultimate-N card in my T60p! It was really easy with the hacked BIOS!

some time ago I was asking for a modded 1802 patchd BIOS for T30 and T40-42/R50-51 Series.

Zender said he would care about it later maybe. This is almost 2 months ago now and Im here to ask again, if anybody could offer patched BIOS for T30 and T4x/R5x series?
Maybe Zender forget it or was out of time?!

This would be fantastic, since they are still not listed on Zender's MOD-Bios-Page.

Can anyone help me w/ the hack for the ThinkPad X301?

I installed a Sierra Wireless MC5725 card into my new X301, which was previously in my ThinkPad X61s. The X61s was purchased from Lenovo with the Sierra card already installed, so I'm not too sure why it is giving me this error.

Even though your MC5725 is Lenovo-branded, that card is not white-listed in the X301 BIOS. However, a modified BIOS will resolve that issue. Check you Private Messages (PM) to see if anybody has sent you what you need.

hello, I've been using patched bios for a while now in a number of different TP. I just got a new x200s with the latest bios. Can somebody here walk me through step by step how do force update using image? I usually using *.exe method.

I downloaded patched image and official image from lenovo but dont know whatelse to do...I burned the patched image and tried to install it but got an error message

@talonmies: Try just taping pin 20 on the card. That is, preventing the pin from making eletrical contact with the slot by using small piece of tape.

I'm about to tape pin-20 on my sierra aircard...however, looking at the picture (link in bold) it appears that the so-called pin20 is no anywhere the 20th pin from either side...how is that called pin20?
i hope someone also can clarify that using a clear (see-through) tape and not the black electrical tape is fine?

Peak2peak: Thank you that clears up things much, however, just to confirm it though, i understand that i only need to tape it on one side only since the pin on the other side is not pin-20 then?

jwid: Yep!, that's correct - tape pin 20 which is located on the bottom side of the WWAN card - I usually use general purpose masking tape.
