Feraturion:

Yeah I have a WiFi link 5100 working with zenders Bios on a T60 so it works.
And i think you earlyier fry your cpu than something go's wrong while updating your bios.

Yeah i fried it en replaced it by a core 2 duo (bright side is it runs windows 7 64-bit)
I was planning on adding both the 5100 and upgrading to the core 2 duo on my T60p. Does this combination upgrade cause problems? You mentioned "you fried it"

Thanks.

The "frying" reference is to what happens when an attempt to do a BIOS upgrade fails catastrophically -- and it refers to what happens to the motherboard via its BIOS being corrupted, not what happens to the CPU. Hardware combinations do not "fry" anything.

Getting an IdeaPad U150 in a few days. Looking to try to mod the bios to support a Sprint card. I'd buy the Lenovo branded card if I knew it would work. Would it be possible to dump and snoop through the BIOS to see what it will accept?

Hello,

I have an x61t. It's wireless card is under the palmrest and gets very hot. I have the 3965agn...

Will replacing it with 4965agn fix the heat issue? Any other suggestions?

I've PM'ed Zender a while ago, but i guess he's having a busy time 8)

Edit: Unpacking my brand new n-router in this moment, so now I'm really desperate for the patched bios ;)

I updated a T-60 running Windows 7 today with an Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300. Zender's 2.25 mod worked like a charm. All hotkeys and the on/off switch work without issue. I measured transfer rates at 4x's the speed of my old ABG card with only two antennas currently installed. I have another internal antenna on order. I'll update the topic when I have that installed.

Great work Zender. Thanks!

Could someone please pm me the bios for an X300. I've pm'd Zender for the bios a while ago as well.

I'm looking to enable an MC8775 WWAN card.

I've read through this forum and tried several things with still no luck. I have a MC8775 WWAN card and I've tried (what I think) is the modified bios from this link:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=5866

I still get error 1804. I've also tried taping pin 20, still no go.

note: I'm using linux, so for the flash I used phlash16 from a dos usb key. Using $01B7000.rom renamed to bios.wph.

Any ideas? Could someone please send me a mod bios for x300 please?
Thanks,
Jason

Thanks in advance

Wow... long thread! The things we do out of desperation. LOL

In any case, I sent a PM to Zender requesting for the Upgraded Bios.

am I the only one trying to install an MC8765 on an X61 tablet? lol what is wrong with this cad that no one else is using it? I know its old... but anything else I should watch out for?

On a side note, I feel bad that Zender has to send this to each person that request for it via PM. Does anyone have the X61T bios upgrade? Mind throwing it my way?

:??:One possible reason is that maybe it is only capable of 1.8Mbps Peak downlink speeds - Sierra Wireless produced the MC8775 which in-effect replaced both the MC8755 & MC8765, covering 850/1900/2100MHz WCDMA/UMTS frequencies with a Peak downlink speed of 3.6Mbps - Firmware does exist to increase the Peak downlink speed to 7.2Mbps.

Ah, that explains it. I didn't read it anywhere about the download speeds. I just tried to find one that's compatible (which turns out its not) and bought it. Which in turn now led me to this forum looking for zender's bios mod.

is there a whitelist somewhere that tells me which one of the cards is truly "PNP" for the IBM Thinkpad X61T? Having the big card sticking out of the side of the laptop when carrying it around is getting a little annoying.

Thanks again.

According to the X60T/X61T Hardware Maintenance Manual under the "Parts list" section (P.112) - there is a IBM/Lenovo Sierra Wireless MC8775 available - FRU part No:42T0931 - If you do decide you require this card, place a WTB (Want-to-buy) post in the forums Marketplace. Also if you have an eBay member, search for "IBM Lenovo MC8775 WWAN CARD" and you should come across a few sellers. 8)

I'm in desperate need of using a Sprint card (my HP MC5725) into a recently purchased X200T (tablet). It has 3.11 bios on it. I've pm'd Zender but seems to be on well-deserved vacation.

Any chance somebody can help me and pm me a patched bios for my unit?

And one question: could I use a Sprint/Sierra 595U AND get GPS functionality?

Thanks everyone.

Good to hear all is well - :thumbs-UP: - Did the card work straight away after the BIOS mod or did you have to tape over Pin20?

Thanks Zender! I installed the modified BIOS some time ago on an X41T and an X61T, and today I installed an AR5008 and a 5300 on them respectively and they are working (mostly) fine.

that's weird. I responded to this a few days ago but it never posted.

Anyway, before I installed the BIOS, i went to try taping the pin 20 first but it was midnight and I couldn't get a small enough tape to tape over pin 20 so I ended up stripping it off the PCB board...

So by the time I installed the BIOS MOD, I don't have the pin 20 anymore. lol It works for me though, I know that the front switch doesnt turn it off though, but it doesnt' really matter. I'm just happy that I don't have to have that big orange card sticking out the side of the laptop.

 Happy Christmas to everyone first of all and i hope you all have a fantastic New Year :)

I have just joined the forum after spending several hours reading many posts on the subject of removing the 1802 error on my R32 Thinkpad.
Does anyone have the R32iso.zip for the updated bios as i am keen to get my wireless mini pci card working on my laptop. This bios presumably is relevant only to certain wireless cards if anyone has the list that it will work on then this would be greatly appreciated. I have a couple of wireless cards that i can try it on but if need be i will get one off of ebay to get it all working, but just need the right card (non ibm branded!!).
Zenders site appears to be down so i am unable to download the file :(

Thanks Zender for doing all the long work of making this possible :)

All help would be greatly appreciated :help:

Can someone me a copy of the latest BIOS for a Lenovo T61 (Type: 6465CTO) please? I currently have BIOS v2.26 and Embedded Controller v1.08 install on this machine. I'm assuming I'll have to down grade to something below what you're going to send me if it's the same version number. Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I sent Zender a message asking him to send me a whitelist modded bios for the Thinkpad R61. I'm just trying to cover all my bases by asking everyone else out there for the same.

I need a modded bios with the whitelist removed for the R61 8934-A7U.

This is a link to the Lenovo support page http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67856

Thanks!

P.S. You all are welcome to check my progress for installing OS X on this beast at my blog.

Take care!

Thankyou loyukfai for your pm and the link for the bios.

I have now successfully flashed my R32 with the bios and with a dead battery on the thinkpad (read one of the FAQ if you wish to find out on how to make a disc to flash a thinkpad with a dead battery)

HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR and be lucky

Laptop is a T60

Could anyone provide me with a link?
