Sent a PM last Friday - hoping for the latest t500 BIOS!

It's strange, though, after taping pin 20, the 1804 error will halt a boot about 1 in 3 times on my machine. I found that going into the BIOS and turning off WWAN PCI communication helped to get me past POST and into Ubuntu.

Cheers!

If you want a copy of the bios write a private message to Zender and you will get it. I got it that way and it worked fine.

Genuine WAN antennas can be found on EBAY if you follow this link:

I'm amazed that so many people haven't seen my last post where I posted a link to a site with 1802 error-fixed BIOSes for almost all Thinkpad models... :S

I saw it just fine, but those BIOSes also have other mods that I dont need or want to experiment with.

Zender's BIOS works A-OK for me, I can be patient until he gets a chance to update.

Zender rox my socks!

If somebody's brave enough to attempt the upgrade, I'd love to see a hacked Z61t bios.

Thanks all. :)

Hi Everyone,
I have searched up and down but however have been unable to find an answer to this particular problem. I have a x300 that I decided to install a Huawei CM770W WWAN card into. The installation went flawless (it is on the bios Whitelist) and after installing a set of Win 7 drivers that I found online Windows 7 found the device and everything installed correctly.

The issue I am having is two fold.

1.) Fn+F5 does not show the WAN card, no matter what I tried to get it work (including updating AC and Broadband software from Lenovo).

2.) I am unable to actually turn the WAN radio on. Windows sees the card however it doesn't display any 3G connections. When I "diagnose" the issue, it reports that the card is turned off and I need to turn it on. The Acer 3G connection software that came with the drivers will not turn the card on and even the Lenovo AC software will see the card just fine but it wont turn it on.

I have a feeling that both of these 2 issues are related, but if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

also, if anyone has the updated bios for an x300 I have anMC8775 here that I can also use. I send Zender a PM and will wait patiently :)

Mashie: - Welcome to the forum!

As far as I remember, I do not think the Huawei EM770 WWAN card is supported in the X300's whitelist - According to the HMM, the only card's supported are the Lenovo MC8775 - FRU: 42T0931 and MC5725 - FRU: 42T0987. This could be the problem why the card remains in an "off" state due the BIOS sending a disable signal for a card that is not whitelist supported - Try taping over Pin 20 of the Huawei EM770 (as mentioned in earlier posts) - If this does not work, then try out Zender's modded BIOS.

I have been using a Huawei EM770 over the past year within my T60p (BIOS modified) and can confirm that it is a very stable & sensitive fast modem - I can even make "PC" Voice Calls via the T60p's internal mic & speakers too!

Thanks Peak2Peak! I will try taping over pin 20 tonight as you suggested and report back here. I figured the 770w was suppoted because I have not gotten an BIOS errors on boot and interestingly enough it works perfectly in my Lenovo S10-3T (yeah I know, completley different model:) ).

If that doesn't work then I will use the modified Zender bios when I get it.

Edit: Taping pin 20 did the trick with the 770w modem and it seems to be working just fine. I can even turn it off/on from the Acer software. I am going to try one of the .dll hacks I saw to try and get the FN-F5 key to work with this modem.

Thanks again!

For those folks having the 1802 error with the Thinkpad X100e, and aren't willing to risk bricking their laptops, I posted an alternative in this thread on these forums:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 17#p573517

So, there are two options available using Lenovo-branded FRUs. I know it's more expensive, but once I had a working device in the primary wifi slot I was thrilled to have a legit solution that didn't put my laptop at risk or violate warranty.

I have a thinkpad t60p and really need to upgrade my wireless due to the fact that my 3945 is not able to keep up with my wired speeds. I would like to replace it with either a 5100/5300 series or at the very least a 4695 N.

Can anyone please let know which ones will work and provide the needed bios. Thank you very much in advance.

I have PMd Zander but have not heard back from him so I hope someone else can help.

Hi,

I know Zender is very busy lately and he has all the rights to be busy.

I would like to request all the kind souls on this forum to direct me or send me the bios file for X200s and T400 (I have both). I purchased a 3rd party mini-PCI 3G modem just to encounter the 1804 error message and I am desperate to have this working. I spent two days searching the internet and I am happy to have found this forum and thankful for Zender to have created a WWAN whitelist hacked BIOS. I am now glad there is light at the end of the tunnel, however I am not able to find the BIOS.

I know the instruction says PM Zender & I have PMed Zender. I do not expect a reply soon and any other kind souls who are willing to help me out would be much appreciated.

Pls send bios to alvin @ time dot net dot my

Thank you for helping out ... will return the favor in future to anyone in need.

Edit 13/May/2010 - Many thnks to Zender for the mod BIOS & silvrcloud2003 for providing the download link. My T400 is happily working with a Prolink HSUPA MiniPIC WWAN card (PEM330).

I sent a coupe of message to zender about the X100e mod, i really can't understand how pm are working on this forum, there is no "send" button but just a submit one and my message are still listed on the outbox field and not on the sent one.

I feel dumb but i can't understand if the messages are simply waiting for the empty inbox or what...

So, I'm sorry but I repeat my question here.

There is any chance to get the x100e's bios modded ?

Thanks in advance to zender and to any other users that can help.

AFAIK...

1. Messages not yet read by recipient are placed in the Outbox.
2. There's no modded BIOS for X100e, yet.

So you probably have to keep waiting...

Cheers.

Hi...
I am still stuck with my x60 and no bios. All pm's un-answered by zender etc...
Does anyone have this fix for the 1802 on an x60 and can PM me??
The "No1802" that is posted on the internet that works with my R51 does not work on the x60.
Kind Regards;

hmeister

Altough I'm not skilled at all on these low level things I tried to look at the bios code to see at least to change a value on the whitelist.

Maybe I did something wrong but after dumping, uncompressing and splitting the X100e's bios in his modules I can't find anywhere the hex value of the actual working realtek card (is VEN_10EC&DEV_8172 and should be present in the bios as EC107281), also the automated scripts from zender aren't finding the whitelist check routine[s] to disable them.

So, for now, I'm on a dead end.

Probably the bios things are quite different from usual because the AMD processor o simply becouse the newest bioses are working differently.

Maybe I did somethink wrong in the dumping/unpacking process but all seem went fine: the modules are there, are correctly named, and I can see some plain hex string inside them, even the "error 1802" one.

So I'm still hoping in the zender help, or obviously in the help of anyone has a good idea bout this.

Thanks in advance.

I have pm'd Zender a couple of weeks ago for a modded bios for T61 but so far no reply. I imagine he's probably busy with more important things. I have an MC8781 WWAN card that I would like to use in my T61. Anyone with a Zender modded T61 bios that's willing to share?

thanks

I've got an IBM R32 that would be nice to have an internal wireless added.

Hey Guys,

I hope someone can help me out solving the 1802 Problem.
I've bought an TP-Link 802.11n card for the X41T, but the CD Patch won't work.
I need the modified BIOS for it.
I send PM to Zender on Thursday last week, but got no response yet.

And by the way:
Does the modified BIOS fix error message with other HDD, too?
Anybody knows?
I'm thinking about an 1,8" SSD in my Tablet...

My X41 Tablet has got BIOS Version ET50WW (2.06), dated 12/19/2006
It's an type 1866-6SG

I hope someone can help!
