OK, I have found a way around the BIOS-lockout of the Ericsson F3507G wwan card on my x201 without alteration to the BIOS.
My system:
3626-FBG
X201 i5 520M
4GB RAM
BIOS 6QET45WW (1.15)
WWAN Upgradeable with the Gobi card
Win 7
Now, I have two SL300's that came with the Ericsson card. My son ripped off a lot of the keys on one of them,
and I haven't replaced the keyboard yet so I robbed the wwan card to try it on the x201 even if I read all about the trouble to expect.
With a normal restart / boot on the system the wwan is not available in my Access Connections, also I have no option to enable / disable it in the BIOS. I can't see the card in the device manager, BUT - by using System Information I can see the card under Components -> Network -> Adapter.
To make it short - this is the procedure I use to enable my unauthorized wwan card
1. Shut down system completely
2. Switch off wireless (hardware switch).
3. Power on while holding F1
4. Enter Settings in the BIOS
5. Press F10 to save and exit (no changes made)
6. The startup will sometimes halt after this, then I just hold the power button to turn off and power up again
7. Let the pc boot till the first windows logo
8. Enable the wireless (hardware switch) BEFORE windows loads completely
Thats it. Works every time.

Hi everyone,
I'm in need of a modified BIOS for a Z61t. I believe the Z61 bios listed on the first page should be fine too.
I've been unable to use my new intel 5300 wifi card for 2 weeks now because of this ridiculous 1802 error.
Also, i've PM'd Zender over a week ago but unfortunately still no response.
PM me if you can help with the BIOS. Much thanks in advance.
EDIT: Got it, thanks!

@Tafrik:
I would suggest you burn a CD from the ISO file instead, and use the CD for the update.
Don't update from within Windows!

Hi Realblackstuff
i am affraid you didn't understand the problem i am facing - i don't have issue burning the bios - i have issues replacing the patched white list module. maybe i didn't explain myself good enough. with Zenders process - after patching the White list rom module you have to replace it with the original module ( with old versions like T61 we used a tool called prepare.exe which created a MOD files from the ROM files (zipped) the new tools don't create a mod file thus i can't replace it in the whole bios file.
i know i am missing something - but i am stuck!
can anyone help?

Like I said, burn the ISO from Zender, then do the update using that CD.
It includes the modified/bypassed whitelist.
No need to mess around with modded files.
I use his files on a T43, an R52 and a T60. Just burned the CD from his ISO's, and installed from CD. Child's play really

Am I to understand that you are trying to modify the T400 BIOS with the T61 whitelist?
FYI, there is a separate T400 Zender-BIOS!

No - i have already modified the T61 and catenated it and it works great (the T61 procedure is using a Prepare.exe tool), i am trying to modify the T400 but this model uses the FI\Fp.exe tool which works different. the Preapare.exe yields a mod files, while the Fi\FP outcome is different and i am not sure of what to do. i have already sent Zender a PM but up till now i didn't get any replay.

I tried PM Zender but he hasn't replied. Been waiting for over a week. Can you help me. Thx

Hi guys,
I'm one of the unlucky ones trying to update my T61 6459-CTO (
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67853 ) with a SparkLan WPEA-110N wireless-N card.
I recently updated to BIOS 1.08 from that site above and was hoping that someone of you could hook a brother up with a patched BIOS that removes the wireless card restrictions.
For any help, I'd be very very grateful.
Best,
Peter

Zender seems to have disappeared and I need a modded version of the latest W500 BIOS since it fixes the graphics issues I'm having ("Fixed an issue LCD showing moving slant lines looking from some direction."). The 5300 card that came with my laptop died about a year ago so I need the modded BIOS to use my older 4965AGN. If anyone has managed to replicate Zender's BIOS mod method on the 3.13 BIOS I'd be very grateful.

I "need" a modified BIOS for a Lenovo z61m, BIOS 2.27.. is Zender still active?
Does someone has this BIOS? I need it for an Intel 5100AGN, instead of the standard 3945ABG card. The 1802 patch doesn't work, so you guys are my only hope )

Hi,
I have a T60 8741-HAM and have successfully installed a WWAN Card Huawei EM770W. Even though the notebook boots into windows and I have successfully installed the drivers I am unable to get the card to power on, I have tried a few software methods to no avail. I am suspecting this may be caused by the BIOS. Can you Help?
Thank You in Advance,
Daniel

Hello everyone,
it should not be a surprise to anyone, that Zender - having spent lots of time on modifying diverse lists in Bioses and having had obviously lots of PM - just needs a rest or even more probable will not be able to spend all his free time locked up with a/some notebook(s)... It is a formidable achievement that with his help useful and efficient life of Thinkpads may be extended further!
All the same, we probably all would like to know, whether Zender just takes some time out or whether he just had enough of it... .
Bios Version 2.25 (T60P), which is almost the latest will do for the time being.
But to stay update would be nice...
May be there are other able and interested community-members that may pick up...?

Did anybody even bother to see what the difference between 2.25 and 2.26 bios is?
Code: Select all
Version 2.26
[Important updates]
Nothing.
[New functions or enhancements]
Nothing.
[Problem fixes]
- Fixed an issue where extermal USB keybard may not work fine after BIOS update.
- Fixed an issue where POST error 2110 may occur.
That's it, it's not even worth creating a patch for or updating to 2.26, just be happy with what you got like everybody else. And p.s. thanks Zender for all the hard work all these years.
