Re: ThinkPad BIOS whitelist (error 1802/1804) *READ 1st MSG*
So i have a Lenovo T500 that didnt have a wifi card. I went online and bought an Intel 5100 mini without knowing that the FCC allows companies to lock out other companies products. I tried editing my whitelist in my bios but i have only one machine and its turning out to be quit an issue for me. If possible can anyone help me out with directions on what i need to do, or even better send me a link to a bios for a T500 thats already modified to accept the intel 5100? Sick of getting this 1802. Thanks

Re: ThinkPad BIOS whitelist (error 1802/1804) *READ 1st MSG*
Hello everyone; first of all, I need to say thanks to Zender - you're providing a great service! I read the first post and documentation. I'm hoping someone may be able to provide me with a patched BIOS that will allow me to use my Intel 5100 from my X200 in my new X201.
I managed to extract the BIOS from the embedded-hd on the .ISO ($01C2100.FL1), uncompress and extract it, then use Zender's tool to patch up one of the .ROM files (#6) but I'm lost after that. Zender makes a faint mention of injecting random data into the resulting ROM then recombining/recompressing everything. I'm not sure where to put that random data!
Also, I tried the previously mentioned power-on with F1 to enter BIOS, press F10 to save and reboot. I wasn't able to get this to work in any way :/
Thanks - any help is appreciated!
P.S. I just have to say that I've burned most of my day on this.
Why Lenovo, why?!?

It seems the new MO is to post here and receive a PM from Harryc. If not, I'll gladly PM Zender. I have an X200 which could use a bios flash to get a new wireless card working. Thanks!

Thanks for the PM; I see there is no "support" for the X201 yet...I've sent a kind message to Zender asking for help with this!

I would be very grateful for the latest BIOS for my T61p Frankenpad. It features a T61p motherboard from a 14" 4:3 T61p model.

Hi all,
Thanks for great information regarding the whitelist-issue, too bad i didn't find this before ordering a new WAN card.
I am in need of a x200 bios that enables the use of a Gobi WWAN card, please contact me if you are available to help!

Thanks to Zender for the great work! And thanks, Harryc, for the pm'd link.
I had a few issues, probably due to my ignorance, but thought I'd post my solutions here.
Lenovo X200T, BIOS version 3.11, running Windows 7, trying to use a Dell E1505 wifi card.
Made boot CD from .ISO but couldn't get it to work. Typing "command" gets me to the 3-option screen. Hit 2 and says no need to upgrade now. Wend back to original command line and typed "flash2 \u" opens a new screen and I get an error in Phoenix 16 that was something like "Cannot open $XXXXXXX.FL1" (X's are the file-specific alpha numerics that I don't remember) and makes me reboot.
Next, I downloaded Lenovo's BIOS .exe utility from the Lenovo site. Unpacked/installed as directed and found the .FL1 file in a sub directory of installed directory, which I replaced with the .FL1 from Zenders package. Ran the BIOS flasher "WINUPTP.exe" and get error "Current version matches update version. No need to update now." or something like that.
So, I did the above for 3.10 (without replacing the .FL1 file with modded one) and downgraded my BIOS, which worked fine. (I did get an error, which was fixed by changing BIOS settings to default by hitting F9 in BIOS settings screen.) Then retried the above with 3.11 and modded .FL1 as I first tried, which also worked fine. Installed the Dell card and it was recognized, drivers downloaded--all is well!
Looking back, it could probably have been done in one step of upgrading from 3.11 (my original BIOS version) to the modded 3.12 or 3.13 BIOS versions. But, in the end, this is what I did and it worked.
There wasn't much in the way of How-to's and many "if you don't know what you're doing, you probably shouldn't be doing this" replies on other forums, so I thought this would be helpful. I'm sure there are better ways to get this to work and if Mods would prefer this step-by-step not be posted here, feel free to trim away.

Thanks Harryc & EOMtp for the assitence. Thank you Zender for creating this modification and spending the time! I got my MC8780 working with my X61s and spent quite a while figuring out how to actually flash the bios with no cdrom drive *wipes brow*. I spent half the day figuring that out, then another 2 hours installing the wireless antenna & now it's all working great! No more constantly used usb port or pcmcia slot!
Thanks yall!!! Mucho appreciation.
One thing i didn't realize till i read it about 4 times, was the note about you needing to update from the same bios version from lenovo to the modified one.
And the winphlash which took me half the day to realize about it.
