:?: I have a 1.66GHz Yonah Core Duo processor right now, I would like to upgrade to a core2 duo if that is possible. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I talked to a tech (who actually knew what he was talking about) at IBM and he said the best cpu I could put in my laptop was 7600 2.33GHz. He didn't specify if that was Core Duo or Core2 Duo. I asked and he didn't know for %100.

Can I get the T7600 Core2 Duo cpu and run that in my Thinkpad? Thanks guys.

yes you can, the Core 2 Duo 7600 is the highest it can go. The others are 800mhz and wont work. This question has been asked a few times so do a search.

C2D T7600
2.33GHz
667MHz

The answer isn't quite as clear-cut as you make it out to be.

The OP needs a REVISION 3 or higher motherboard to run C2D in the T60. There were some VERY EARLY T60s released on Rev 2 motherboards that do not run C2D under any circumstances (wrong VRM spec 11.0 vs. 11.1).

With that said, the VAST MAJORITY of boards out there are Rev 3, and should be compatible. You can verify your board revision with the program called CPU-Z (under the mainboard tab of the application).
