T61 with Vista won't go to sleep- or I Fn+F4,close lid,wakes

lately my pos T61 is doing what it does best - annoying me.
Has anyone had this problem?

I close the lid and it won't sleep. Or I press Fn+F4, it acts as if it is going to sleep, I close the lid and... it's not sleeping.

I have looked at every thing in device manager and nothing is allowed to wake the computer. All of the power management sleep/lid-close settings are intact and appropriate. Am I missing something?
