Today, I finally have a sparetime to actually install TP Fan Control for both T60 and T43.
It's very interesting the fact that T43 seems to have a heating problem with its PCI while heavy duty usage of PCI temperature could hit over 60 degrees easily, worst yet, the PCI temperature takes a lot longer to cool down. During normal usage, the CPU and GPU are only hovering around 50degrees, where the PCI temperature would be around 55degrees. BIOS Controlled fan is around 4444RPM
T60 doesn't seem to have PCI heat problem. CPU and GPU hit over 70 degrees on heavy duty, but the PCI rarely ever hits 60 degrees. For normal usage, my CPU and GPU hovering around 55-60degrees where my PCI stabilizes itself around 46degrees. BIOS Controlled fan settles around 3300-3500RPM(A lot quieter than my T43)
I guess it's a pity that T43 has PCI heat problem. The heat from PCI is really the only thing that triggers the loud fan in T43. I don't know about other T43 though.
Also, I noticed that when you first use smartfan monitor, the fan is in off state, but once the smart fan is triggered, It seems to have a problem shutting itself down automatically. I have to first select the BIOS mode followed by the Smart Fan mode to turn off the fan completely. Isn't Smart fan supposed to be automatic in terms of turning on or off?

Yeah i had the same problem so now I use the manual mode, where i set the speed of the fan to level 2 and it doesnot bother me at all.
Hey better than having it on level 5, 24/7 before I installed TP fancontrol program.

I agree. In fact, I sent the author a few dollars as a gift for all the work (around two years worth, I figure, based on the thread about it on this site)djThinkbad wrote:The Guy who worte this software should get an award from lenovo/ibm. (Saved sooooo many returns)
He seems dedicated, and got started up with his little program out of a need to quiet down his T43.
$20.00 isn't much, but heck it will buy him lunch or something.
