T60 Vista-Ultimate IBM a/b/g wireless question

#1 Post by AuroraGuy » Tue Jan 29, 2008 6:07 am

I have successfully installed Vista Ultimate (not an upgrade..full fresh install).

I am using the IBM a/b/g (not the n card) and I have noticed something I did not notice on XP.

When I boot the machine up, the wifi seems to connect faster than XP (although close enough) and my weatherbug immediately connects..which is great.

However, during this time..the wireless network icon (Vista version) has a nice red X on it....after say 20-30secs it turns into a Yellow exclamation point and then maybe 10-20 seconds later it appears normal.

I do not use any program to manage my wifi other than native vista...the equal to zero wireless config I believe.

I am using the latest driver directly from Lenovo. I have a flawless connection and its very stable - but I dont understand why I have full network access and yet there is a RED X on the network icon....

Just like we used to see if we disconnected an active ethernet cable under XP.

Thoughts anyone??

thanks,
JD
