Internet problem with my T61 !!

Hii ppl !!

I am totally worried about my current situation. I have networking problems with my new Thinkpad T61 and I use XP

I cannot connet it through LAN cable or even with wireless.

And in the network connections wat i can see is only a MAC network bridge, which has nothing in its properties.

The error it keeps showing is Install and enable IP.

Worst part is i cannot see my IPCONFIG even in the command prompt !!

Please help me out guyz as im a new bie !!!

welcome to the forums..


now what you should do is delete the bridge. The bridge is the joining of your LAN and WIFI card, someone must have done that accidentally so just delete it and you should see the other cards.

Oh and also check your wifi switch if it's on too

Thanks for ur instant reply !! I did that and forgot to mention that i can see all my cards working in the device manager !! About the switch when i switch it on in Thinkvantage access connections the status still shows as OFF !!

Sounds like you need to create a new network connection (in windows) or a new profile (in Access Connections). During the process you will be given a drop-down list to select the adapter for that connection/profile. If you see the adapters in device manager, then the drivers are OK, and they will show in the list when you create a new connection/profile.

Hii Kernel !! Thanks for ur reply !! I tried it n number of times...and it says ENABLE AND INSTALL TCP/IP...and as i mentioned the adapter is visible in device manager ....but it is not able to assign an IP to it !!
And i do not know how to enable, install and assign an IP !!:(

Odd.... You set the IP manually by selecting the adapter in control panel>network connections->select adapter properties;>select TCP v4 properties. If you cannot see the adapters in network connections, then uninstall them in device manager, and let vista reinstall them on reboot. Maybe that will reset them...
