Wi-Fi broken after last ThinkVantage update

The other day my T60 updated a few things via ThinkVantage System Update. One of the updates was titled ‘Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg). Ever since then the Wi-Fi has stopped working.
It can see wifi spots but can’t connect to them. At home I get an ‘Limited or no connectivity’ error, excellent signal strength etc. I have tried deleting the settings and re connecting to my home wi-fi and re entering password etc, no joy.
I have also tried rolling back Wi-Fi drivers and installing latest ones.
What is this Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg) update? And can I get rid of it?
Many thanks for any help

There's probably an issue with ThinkVantage Access Connections.
If it's not configured incorrectly it will completely muck up all network access. I personally had no time nor desire to get it to work right so I did the sensible thing and just uninstalled it from my T60.

How did you un-install it? It does not look like it's in the 'Add Remove Programs' list
Many thanks

That's one thing I get rid off every time I re-install my OS. Access Connections. In fact, most of the ThinkVantage software is considered "bloatware" by many members of this forum. Client Security Solutions will be next, as it also seems to be more of a pain than a convenience.

If you don't have Access Connections installed then you wouldn't find it in Add/Remove programs.

Don't generalize too much. There is a great deal of mis-information in these bloatware statements. Access Connections is troublesome for some and works fine for a number of members. I am one of the latter. I do dump CSS (although some people use it). The rest of it (at least on my T41) is trouble-free, resource-free, and consumes very little disk. No problem to have. Do what you wish for yourself, of course. .... JDH

So do I have to install 'Access Connections' to remove the Wi-Fi thing?

No, because Access Connections works with the wired NIC as well. However, if you are planning to later use AC for the new wireless installation, it is good practice to uninstall AC first. ... JDH

If you personally don't like it, then feel free not to use it but don't misrepresent your personal opinion as some level of group consenus which
in fact doesn't exist.
