I know that lenovo gets custom drivers for it's laptop cards to deal with power saving issued and such, but the drivers are really dated. Does anyone know if i can use the drivers from
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com and then just splice in the inf file? Is that kosher?

I also would like to know ..... an excellent question
There have been some postings about using alternative drivers on this Forum, but their answers implied replacing the entire driver and not just modding the inf file. I've always wondered what other ThinkPad performance features would be impacted either by using a completely new (better/faster?) driver or modding the inf file.

Lots of folks are using the laptopvideo2go drivers. See this thread for details:

The inf file contains settings for the install. It must be modded to install the regular nvidia drivers on a lenovo. Modding the inf file alone does nothing - you then must install the new drivers, which will work because you changed the list of acceptable cards in the inf file. Usually a fairly big increase in performance is reported.

I wonder if anyone has tried this on the less powerfull Nvidia 140M 128MB successfully?
