Hello,

So I can finally put WWAN in my T60, when BIOS won't throw 1804 at me. I've looked at service part list for it and I have to say finding correct parts isn't any easy. I assume I need the Vodafone versions as I need it to work with 2100MHz band.

The antenna in LCD bezel is listed as 42W2671 for XGA and 91P7028 for SXGA+. I've tried entering the second number to all ordering systems (USA, UK, DE, AU) I've come around and has been always told it does not exist. The first one does exist and I hope it can be used with my SXGA+ screen.

The second antenna under the palmrest is written as 91P7028 for Vodafone models. Again the number which cannot be found anywhere. There's also the non-Vodafone one, 42W2670, but I'm not sure it will an useful one...

Any clues? Any other sources of part number information? Thanks for anything.

As I remember on a french forum ... it seems that sometimes FRU are not leading to any product on the FRU store. You have to call the phone number that is given for your country to ask the right code to enter ! (and you'll provide the number that doesn't work).

On my X61T it'll cost around 65 euros to change the rear panel, add the antenna (the panel cost much more than other parts !) and buy the cables. I'll post in the X6 sub section because i'm not prettysure of what i have to take !

I'll change the whole LCD panel (to add the WWAN led in front) because i think that in the future i'll upgrade to the following HSUPA lenovo card (that will be supported thanks to your work !) when it'll be out ! (7.2 mbps HSUPA )

i don't think you need a new antenna just for 2100. The circuitry is what broadcasts and receives on that freuquency so one antenna should work for all. Surely there are some that's optimized pobably, different lengths and all that but any should work i thought.

The problem for my part is that my computer is not pre-equiped with wwan antenna ! I only have 3 wires for Wifi-n

I suppose that Zender also doesn't have wwan antenna on his T60 !

Well, I think there can definitely be big differences between antennas, not just every piece of metal will be a good antenna. That's why I'm trying to pursue the best solution, because I live on the border of 3G coverage and now, having an AirCard 850 (PCMCIA), it happens to switch to GPRS from time to time.

New things I have learned. Neither MC8755 nor MC8775 have antenna diversity, so there's no point in having two antennas, it will only make use of one. There are newer modules with receive diversity (and also GPS, nice), but they're not widely available yet. So I'm going to stick with MC8775 for the time being, but when the availability of MC8780/MC8785 increases, I'll surely think about one

But that might explain why there's only one antenna part number for Vodafone - there aren't two antennas for it. Still it doesn't explain why it isn't available anywhere... but I'll give them a call (...yet I wonder what I'll be told, as no WWAN models have ever been sold in my country).
Which answers the question about having antenna(s) already - don't have them, and also don't have SIM slot.
