Network adapter problems after Activesync installation

#1 Post by tbar2112 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 12:55 pm

Hi,

I got the HTC TyTN II and installed the MS Activesync software. Once a connection to the phone was established over USB cable, both the ethernet adapter and the wlan adapter disconnected and were not able to enable afterwards. The ethernet said disconnected and wlan just remained off when I trid to turn it on.

I deinstalled Activesync to no avail, then ended up doing a rescue & recovery of win xp to an earlier backup. That took me back up. To makes sure Activesync was the problem I repeated and same thing happened. This behavior has happended once before, when I installed a Logitech webcam. I needed rescue/recovery to get back up.

After this, I am no longer able to get my VPN connections (PPTP) to work, not even after restore. I have downloaded the latest drivers, but that does not help. I also deinstalled/reinstalled my firewall/virus software, turned it off, etc. (I use Norman Security Suite).

Do you have any idea how I could resolve my VPN problem?
Cheers, T-Bar

I am not certain what to answer in your case, except for this:

I have had Active Sync (V4.2.0) running on my T41 and on client machines for a long, long time (including versions prior to that) and never had an issue with NIC's (wired or wireless) or with VPN as a result of Active Sync either loaded or used.

So perhaps it is the phone connection part. ... JDH
