weird speaker chirping issue

#1 Post by thatcrazycommie » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:53 pm

I've got a problem that is kind of hard to describe, but I'll try.

Basically, whenever there are speakers plugged into my T60p, about every five seconds, they emit a rapid series of very soft and high-pitched but still audible chirps. I know it's the computer causing it and not the speakers because it happens no matter what speakers I use. It also happens even if the computer volume is totally muted.

As for the nature of the sound itself, I guess it sounds kind of like crickets at night, but more digital. Maybe a combination of crickets and the sound a CD player makes when you put a bad disc in it.

It seems minor, but it's gotten really annoying over the past couple of weeks. Try watching a movie when, unless there's constantly other sound coming from the speakers, every five seconds... *chiprchirpchirpchirpchirp* ... *chirpchirpchirpchirpchirp*...

Anyway, I don't know if this is a problem anyone else has had, or if I'm just insane, or what, but if anyone has heard of anything like this or has any ideas or suggestions or questions or comments, they'd be much appreciated.

Sorry to rehash old issue but I started noticing the same sound when I use earphones with the T60P I have. I also happen to hear it (cricket like sounds) through the earphones even when I have it in mute. I was wondering whether anyone have a fix. Thanks.
