I'm pretty sure it's the T2700 2.33GHz

Price around $170 on eBay.

There's a T7600 2.33ghz that will physically fit... no idea if it works (there are T60's that come with it...).

This will work in any T60/p which is running BIOS Rev. 5 or higher. (There is also the issue of Rev.03 motherboard or higher, but I have never seen a T60/p with a lower numbered board.) Use CPU-Z to determine board's rev. level:

It looks like the T7xxx series are all 34w, not 31w. If there any 31w T7xxx series, let me know.

That doesn't sound like a big deal... they don't actually suck down their TDP rating, BTW. Some reviews have shown that there isn't a difference in battery life (a give or take 2min situation).

I think the biggest concern most people have is the heat issue.
Has anyone here upgraded from T2xxx (Core Duo) to T7xxx (Core 2 Duo) at the same clock speed and make note of the temps difference?
Anyone know of of a utilty to change the CPU clock speed other than Power Manager for T60P? Low and Lowest CPU setting set mine to the same 1GHz clock speed.
I want to trend the temps changes as a function of clock speed.
Right now I only have 2 data points, one at min (1GHz) and max (2.16GHz) on my T2600.
Thanks,

Here is the site for the Notebook hardware control software. Great stuff.

I am curious to learn more about the actual power usage between the T7xxx series versus the T2xxx series.

One simply cannot differentiate the power usage/temperature differentials between the two processors unless one constructs a specific benchmark that accentuates whatever differences may exist at the margins.
