DVD player recorder seems way loud

Is that how it should be on new T61??
Whole time a DVD is playing , the DVD is spinning and seems very loud.
I looked on Lenovo site but can't even find a place to comment about it, no FAQ

Some of the earlier Thinkpads have a speed control setting for the optical drive in the BIOS setup. For example, my T41 has a "CDROM Speed" setting under the "Power" heading. The three selections are: High, Normal and Silent. Don't have a T61 to check, but see if there's something like that on your system and if so, give that a try.

My T60 has that option, I guess T61 will too ...

as far as i know they all do. You can use the Thinkpad Power Manager also to change the speed but you'll still need to reboot for it to take effect.
