T61p unstable behavior on returning from Standby

I have a new T61p (64606VU) running XP SP2 with 2GB memory. I have had a few cases where I have had applications abort with a number of MS 'Send Error Report' (20 plus) for various applications and dll's. One in particular, Outlook Express gave error message 0x800405 out of memory.
I have installed the new BIOS, run PC-Doctor, run Norton full scan, Windows defender and Ad-Aware and still have the problem (random).
Any suggestions?

Well, 1 thing sticks out... Norton. I swear Norton Antivirus is worse than a virus itself. It is well known to cause many problems, and it is almost impossible to completely remove without formatting.

Only if you don't know how to do it. .... JDH

Just fyi, there is a "Norton Removal Tool" available for free download to automate the complete removal of the program.

You may have a problem with your RAM. Check out this link:

For more general problems with hibernation or standby modes:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907477
The first link seems more relevant because you have that out of memory error in particular. Maybe check your memory modules?

You might think about setting your power settings to default. reason is coming off of standby your video, wireless, and all want power to start up at that time. there is no loading of drivers and programs that run one after the other. its NOW for ALL coming off of standby. I had the same problem with blue screen. As far as Norton, I have ran CA suite. NOD32, and Outpost programs and none of them and I mean none of them runs as smooth as Norton 2008 Security Suite. Its been the most trouble free experiance that I have ever had with a Suite program. Trust me I despise suites that do not run seamlessly.
