T61 vs T61p graphics

#1 Post by ugg » Sun Feb 17, 2008 3:34 pm

I just found out that the only option for the 14" T61p is SXGA. :( I need the 14" WXGA+ format (15" is just too big) so the T61 looks like my only choice.

What is the performance difference between the nvidia 140m vs 570m? Is it like comparing to 8400 GS vs 8600 GT? Is the 140m good enough for a casual gamer?

Are there any other differences between T61p and T61?

Thanks!

No other differences between the two except for the little (p).
T61p has 570m
t61 has either x3100 (on-board) or 140m (dedicated)

570m will consume more power than the 140m

Based on the research I did, the fx570m (128MB) on the thinkpad is nerfed so there really isn't that much of a difference (depending on what you'll be doing with it) so it performs as a 8400GT. The nvs 140m is also 128MB and clockspeed is slightly lower but it's the full thing.

The 570m may marginally outperform the 140m.

It comes both ways ... depending on whether or not the machine is 14" or 15". I have the 128mb 570M in the 14.1" T61/P in my sig.
