Information on what parts of this software I can shut down/disable to decrease boot times/bloat is the reason I signed up at Thinkpads.com, well that and the good company ;-)

I'm not sure if this software is generic or model specific so I'm not sure where to post, so Mods move me if you think best.

I did try a search but the subject pops up on way to many threads to get good results. So if this subject has been beat to death just give me a link or two to the most thorough beating.

I would also like any good resources/threads which will teach me more about Thinkvantage software as I've already been surprised more than once of useful capabilities of which I was previously clueless.

The names under ThinkVantage explains themselves. IMO, they are, by no means, bloatwares. If you feel boot is slow, why not just press Fn+F12 to hibernate the system each time. The cost is only a small piece of space in hard drive equivalent to the size of system memory.

All in the startup folder, my experience is that many apps plant themselves in the startup folder when there is no really need. This is what's left after I deleted the unwanted software Lenovo gave me for free and the update key for audio and graphics drivers as I don't like automatic updates.

I don't mind NECESSARY apps in my startup, but I believe it's smart to question what is necessary and what is not. Unnecessary apps not only slow bootup but they slow the comp down when they unnecessarily run in the background. And lets face it, they'll still start if and when needed.

So are you asking what is the specific function of each of the apps or are you asking opinion about whether to keep them? You may want to check out this link to help clarify some of those. Those that are listed in the link are CSSAUTH.exe, which is Client Security Solution, and UCLAUNCHER.exe, which is related to System Update (I think).

Whether you need any of these is really a matter of preference. For example, I really like the easy eject application (EZEJMNAP) because I tend to use keyboard shortcuts more than the mouse, so I don't use Windows Safely Remove Hardware app in the system tray. Other users may not share this preference. Try this, once you've figured out what each app does, think about when you last used the app. If it's been more than about a month, you probably don't need it. As always, back things up and only make one change at time while experimenting with turning apps on and off.
