Disk Read Error when Installing XP SP2

Hello, computer specs are in my sig.
I'm doing a clean install of XP SP2 onto a completely clean hard drive that has been partitioned into multiple partitions in preparation for multi-booting, including Linux. The SATA setting in the BIOS is set to Compatibility mode.
I get past the first set of blue install screens, where the installer copies a bunch of files and then it restarts. However, when it does restart I get this error:
AFAIK, the disk is clean and good. I ran a Hitachi diagnostic tool before installing and it said it was fine. I also zero-filled the drive with DBAN before I did anything. I also tried Recovery Console -> fixboot and fixmbr. Did I screw up my install of SP2 somewhere?
EDIT: Resolved. Turns out my SP2 cd was scratched.
