Prompted twice for finger print

#1 Post by outofstepper » Fri Feb 22, 2008 5:35 am

Greets all.
T60p here. On start-up / reboot I'm requested to scan my
fingerprint 1st on boot and then again once windows is
running (well, when my desktop is displayed at any rate).

I can't be sure but I think this started happening when I
set up a SecureDisk. I've since deleted the secure disk
but I still get the 2nd fingerprint prompt.

Anyone know why this is happening / if its normal? And
how to get rid of it of course.

Thanks,
Tony

do you have a power-on password set in the BIOS?   if so, you can set the fingerprint control panel to accept the initial swipe to automatically log you into windows.

Thanks erik.
I had a look at the control panel and that option is
already checked.

On closer inspection, it looks like I'm being prompted
to swipe (the second time) in order to load
the Client Security app. As soon as I swipe successfully,
the Client security splash screen comes up, loads,
and disappears.

It sounds like you have that checkmark for "Load when Windows starts" or "Run at Startup", or something to that effect, is that right?

I'm asking because you say it asks you again for the fingerprint software. I just re-installed everything myself for unrelated reasons, and it did the same thing. If this is your problem, uncheck that field.

"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
