Windows Logo Key Remapping on T61p?

#1 Post by deli_haus » Fri Feb 22, 2008 8:24 am

Hi all,

I recently bought a T61p and am very happy with it. One minor complaint - Lenovo insisted on putting a useless (to me) menu key near the right CTRL instead of bilateral windows logo keys (as they finally have put near the left CTRL).

I previously read on this website that people had been remapping Thinkpad keys since the dawn of time... Does anyone know what the scan code is to remap this button?

Thanks in advance! :D

PROBLEM SOLVED

#2 Post by deli_haus » Sat Feb 23, 2008 5:02 pm

Hi everyone,

I found the solution (after digging all over world wide Google). You can now have windows logo keys on BOTH sides of the T61p keyboard (*very* useful if you're comfortable accessing the lock workstation shortcut winkey-L with one hand)

1. Download and install KeyTweak - http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/

2. You *must* execute the program as a true Administrator - if your current "administrator" account has User Account Control restrictions, it may not be good enough.
(probably can get away with right clicking the program shortcut and selecting "run as administrator"; otherwise, must activate the true Administrator account here: http://www.computerworld.com/action/art ... Id=9001970 )

3. on the main screen, select "half teach mode." follow instructions, and select destination key as Right Windows.

4. Back on the main KeyTweak screen, select "apply changes," and restart the computer.
Voila :!:

You could have easily used Thinkvantage Keyboard Customizer utility that comes with thinkpads :)
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:
