T60 LCD Replacement Issues

All,

I'm having an issue with LCD replacement on 2 different models of Thinkpads:

T40p (2373-5U5) - Originally has cracked SXGA+ screen, I have a spare T41 SXGA+ LCD assembly that has been tested to work on the T41 and a different T42. When I swap the entire assembly to the T40p, the screen is very dim, like the backlight is out, but I can see (barely) the text on it. I have tried swapping inverters and LCD cables, yet it still doesn't work. The cracked screen works with both sets of inverters and SXGA+ cables. And when I connect the T41 LCD to the T41 or the T42 it works fine. Is there something I'm missing here? Are there compatibility problems between T40p and T41 and T42 that they require different screens?

T60 - This laptop has a cracked SXGA+ screen (LTD141EN9B). I have purchased a new screen off of ebay that says is compatible with T60's (It's the Samsung LTN141P4-U2) and I have the same problem as above with the T40p, the screen is very dim, no backlight. I've swapped known-to-be-working inverters from other T60's and swapped cables, the cracked SXGA+ screen works, but this new screen doesn't.

Please, any ideas are greatly appreciated...

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know of any known incompatibility with the T4x screens you describe. The screen should work.

The T60 LCD has an ID chip that the ThinkPad uses to find what LCD is connected. Possbilty your replacement does not have this chip.
