I got a 2nd hand T60p recently with the Model number/serial number stickers removed but still with the COA attached.
What I need to know is whether I can call lenovo and tell the operator my COA number and inquire the Serial Number through it?
I just want to make sure whether the serial number matches the one displayed on the BIOS screen.

I don't believe that Lenovo or IBM tracks the COA with the system serial number. You should be able to plug in the serial number into this site:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... OOK-WARNTY
along with the 4 digit TYPE number and it will report the status of the warranty and the full seven character TYPE number. You can then plug that TYPE number into here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... OME-LENOVO
and it will give you the system configuration as it shipped.

FWIW, in my experience the on-site tech actually verifies the serial number through BIOS (not just the sticker on the bottom) to match the machine with the ticket number before performing any service.
