T61 with BDE HDD

#1 Post by Doggy » Mon Feb 25, 2008 11:58 pm

Hi,

There are 2 HDDs with BDE offered as options on the T6x.

I suppose the encryption is performed at the HDD level.

What's the impact on HDD performance?

TY

The last time I checked, Hitachi claimed there wasn't any performance impact. For two reasons:

1. The encryption is hardware based.
2. The AES algorithm is very fast.

i can confirm that.

i have bitlocker running for a while now and there are no noticeable performance tolls. installation/writing/reading are just as fast.
