Modifying the power supply with Dell rubber strap?

Not sure how many of you are familiar with modern dell ac adapters, but they have an ingenious rubber strap instead of unwieldy Velcro strap lenovo uses, and i'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried to replace the velcro with the rubber strap off a dell AC adapter?

I'm thinking some sort of epoxy would work wonders.

Which is useless.... ingenuity factor = zero.

Ever used it?
It makes the power supply nearly managable.
Its not quite on the level of the new macbook one's, but compared to velcro which you have to unhook from itself, figure out which direction it goes, and probably lose cohesion wrapping it, the dell system works MUCH better on the go.

I'll agree with you blackomegax, the Dell strap with the notches is nice to have. My hypothesis is that you would almost have to mold the base of the rubber strap into the adapter or after a few pulls on it, it would come loose. If you figure something out, let us know.

Yes - it breaks easily in the field. Basically useless in practice.

i figure when secure it has about 20-30 lbs of lateral force applied to it.

So, epoxy rated for hundreds of pounds and a proper application of it should hold for at least a year.

I have used the Dell strap as well and have either broken it or had it come out of the PS block on many occasions on my wife notebook.
I will take the Velcro any day.

I've travelled around Australia many times with a group of ten Dells (not mine) and a group of ten Thinkpads (mine).

The Dell adaptors are great except they pop out of the adaptor sooner or later, then they're stuffed.

I think your plan makes sense... let us know how it goes.
