SoundMAX Control Panel - very limited functionality?

Just getting a new T61 going, and I noticed that the SoundMAX Control Panel seems to do nothing more than microphone enhancements and microphone setup wizard.
I was expecting more - sound schemes, effects etc etc!
Am I missing something, or is that how it is?

That is how it is in my T43p as well.

is there a mixer anywhere that can modify the wave output (regardless of the program supplying the sound)?

It can be done by doubleclicking "speaker" icon in notification area (next to clock in traybar) and window should pop-up....it's pretty basic....if you want more control post your "problem" or what you really want to do....

I disagree. I think there's something wrong here.
When I updated it on my T61 from the preinstalled version, I swear some of the functionality disappeared. Also, when that install happened, I repeatedly got an error message saying something like "streammci.dll not found" and only after pressing OK 5 or 6 times did it finish. As-is, I have audio and mic, but that error worries me that it's related to the limited mixer settings.
Right now, I have to go to device manager to disable the mic, rather than being able to just mute it from the taskbar. That's a serious problem. I want to be absolutely certain that the mic is off when I want it off. I can't imagine they removed that ability purposely.

Could you be more specific? What do you want to do?

For me it does not even start at all. I double click on the icon and nothing shows up. I'm glad to know I'm not missing out on much.

In Windows Media Player under View>Enhancements there is a Graphic Equalizer that allows you to vary the input for various frequencies. I use this routinely to deliver more volume than I can normally get when playing podcasts. However, it is only effective for WMP. I desire a program, or different sound driver, that will do this at the sound card level, and give the desired effect no matter which program is playing sound.

Use Equalizer in WMP or itunes

I agree the SoundMax offerings are so limited.
Furthermore, like others have stated, I have found the default sound levels quite low at times... While playing around with the equalizer in itunes and WMP, I've found that you can almost double the max sound level and get rid of the flat sound. I would love to have these options for all programs!!
An update to SoundMax is much needed, the last version for XP is from 2006.

here you can find some (a lot) guitar software amp. I know that that is not what you are looking for but check out some manufacturers sites, they offer much more..... If that doesn't deliver results surf through
this or try to post on theirs forum, I know i gave you lot to do but you must start somewhere

...if your search is succesfull it would be nice to post back results for future users with same problem

....hope it helps, goodluck...
