T61 and Second Life

Hi all,

I was trying to check out Second Life, but the client program keeps locking up on my T61 .. works fine on a Dell tower.

I have the basic built-in video card and am running it through the advanced mini-dock in digital mode with an external LCD.

Any ideas if there is an inherent problem with the video card and Second Life?

Thanks,
Esmail

really? no one? I thought SL was very popular.

My old dell tower can run this with XP and under Linux, but I'd much rather use my spiffy new powerful T61 ...

well did you check the event viewer and your temps to see what's causing the lockups?

No, didn't even occur to me, thanks for the suggestion, seems like an obvious thing to do now that you mention it.

I will do that and post the results, thanks.

system log ie event viewer shows nothing.

The SL client locks up during login with the hourglass just hanging around, and I eventually have to kill the process which has become unresponsive.

I think I may have read somewhere that might be a problem with the chipset, but considering how popular SL is and how great the TPs are I thought I'd find more information on this easily.

Oh well, I'll keep looking.
