t61p network issues

As stated in the title, I've got a t61p, running vista ultimate. I've had the computer since December, never had a single problem with it, or the software.

I've been using access connections to manage my connections. Within the past few days, I've started having network issues. Although I maintain a connected status, I.E. and Firefox do not connect to the web, however programs like uTorrent, and Pidgen run fine. Generally, the only way to resolve the issue is to reboot the machine, to which all issues go away until they spontaneously reappear again.

As far as I can recall, I have not updated the wireless card drivers via windows update or the lenovo update utility.

Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

edit: machine type 6460-67u, computer management shows "Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN"

One thing that Access Connections wants to do is to turn on the Windows Firewall, and that has prevented browsing for me (until I quickly realized what was going on). This rears its head if you have a different firewall installed as the default firewall. Look in the AC options for each of the profiles. ... JDH

i don't have any 3rd party firewalls installed though. Only what the IBM pre-load would put there.

One thing to note is that the thinkvantage system update shows an update for my intel wireless card. I'm reluctant to update as I've read that it's best to only update the wireless driver when you update access connections, or else you get a massive amount of compatibility issues. I had this issue with my 41p.

Also, one thing I noticed is sometimes spontaniously, Access Connections wont load a profile, and instead will switch over to the windows service. Once it switches over to this, I'm yet to successfully switch back to using access connections w/o a reboot.
