I was checking out the nvidia display properties and see it says video ram is 256mb in win xp.

can someone confirm is that is true or not?

as far as i know is that only 15.4" T61p that comes with 256mb video ram.

It's probably counting shared system ram in that number. 128 mb dedicated video ram plus 128 mb system ram = 256 mb "video" ram.

My T60 has 128megs of ram. With my 3 gigs of sytem ram, the video ram shows up as 512megs.

This is just how it was made to work. So, enjoy :D

Do you have nVIDIA FX 570M video card?

I wonder how much ram will show up on the 15.4" T61p?

Nope,

my system has the ATI Mobility Radeon™ X1400, which has 128megs built in. With the 3 gigs of system ram, my card shows up as having 512megs.

Maybe someone in the group has more to add to make us understand the WHY

Hope this helps answer your question.

Kindest Regards, Steve :D

my system with 2GB of RAM shows:

Total available graphics memory 895 MB

under Windows Vista Business SP1 x86. So it's all just virtual RAM added to the dedicated graphics memory of 128MB. My system will borrow up to a certain amount maxing out at the above if needed. If not then it just runs it's normal lil 65MB or whatever for Vista AERO.
