Hi all. I am thinking of picking up a T61, but am worried the screen isn't as bright or contrasty as needed for some lite photoshop/lightroom work. I have read and heard varying thoughts. Can anyone confirm this please? I am looking at the 15.4" wsxga+ screen. Thanks very much!

if you're doing quick editing that you plan to finish later on a better screen then you'd be ok.   if it's color-critical work for paying clients then you'd be taking a risk.   the IPS flexview displays on the former T60p models are the only ones i trust for developing and editing photos.   i can do quick edits on my T61p but save the color/saturation work for when i get back to the office and can use my thinkvision L220x.

This is what I thought, but just wanted to confirm, thank you. I know this is the T6x forum, but would you have any suggestions for laptops to edit on? It's not a necessity, but if I can get a similar machine with that ability it would be great. I've always been under the impression that it's best to do this on desktop monitors, but who knows :D

all notebook displays are 6-bit and have limited gamut (including the infamous IPS flexview panels) so none of them are on the same level as an 8-bit desktop display with wide gamut.   however, i would consider a T60p with IPS display worthy of any work that isn't going to press right away.   absolute color correction for paying clients should always be done on an external display.   if it's just for yourself then it won't matter as much.

You can't see the whole screen in the same color ever, so the easy answer is; no.
