Thin cases (neoprene?) that fit 14" /w extended battery

#1 Post by Phred » Wed Mar 12, 2008 2:31 pm

I'm looking for a case for my 14" T60 so the finish doesn't get scuffed up when it's in my backpack anymore. Ideally, I would like something that could stay on when it is in use, but I think it's going to be hard enough to find one that fits over my extended battery anyway. If it was going to stay on, it would also need holes for the ports and the exhaust ports as well. I dunno if this even exists, but I'd take suggestions for something that can be kept on or alternatively, something that at least fits with the battery. Perhaps there is one that I can modify with a razor blade. I'm just looking for some sort of thin case, not necessarily made of neoprene, although all the ones I have seen have been made of that.

Newspapers sucked in benzine might be your favorite solution..........if you're suicidal.

Can't resist to respond in this way.

Thanks. That's a great help.

Anyone want to offer a real answer?

Take a look at thinkpad vertical slip case, but I donno if that is what you are after ...

IMO it is not a good idea to run a laptop in a sleeve all the time, poor ventilation is never good.

Thanks for the suggestion. That looks nice. I kinda decided that you're right about the ventilation. It's gunna be too hard to find a case that allows airflow and access to power and usb ports. I think I just need something thin that I can put in my backpack to keep the nice sparkley finish from getting scratched or scuffed.

Couple of nice tyvek envelopes, free from Fedex or the USPS, will do that. (Or plain white ones from the stationery store.)
Fedex and the other courier companies also will give you a similar envelope with padded "bubble" cell liner, which makes a nice light protective envelope (huh!) too. The standard 11x17 size probably will fit.
