Screen Question

Hi Guys,

I just purchased my first Thinkpad, a T60 (or T61p, what's the difference?). I'm really happy with the machine but mine has some creek on the left hand frame around the screen about 2/3rd's the way down, so I could not open the screen by holding the frame here. Is that normal for the T60? Is it something I should worry about?

Thanks.

One would normally open the cover by holding the front near the latch release. The friction hinges are designed for normal force in this way. Opening the cover by the side 2/3 of the way down will take much more force.

The T60 frame has 2 screws on the left side and it should be pretty solid. If it is too loose for your liking, remove the sticky covers and tighten the two screws.

The T60 uses ATi GPU and the T61p uses nVidia GPU.

Intel GMA also.

T60 and T61p have many differences.

T61p:

-T61p is a workstation.
-It comes equipped with Penryn now.
-Has newer 965 intel chipset which can address full 4Gb memory under 64-bit OS.
-It has better cooling system and a new redesigned fan.
-Has integrated rollcage for protection.
-Can be configured with Linux also.
-Options of WSXGA+, WUXGA, SXGA+ screens are available.
-Comes with nVidia Quadro FX 570M (options of 128MB or 256MB are available) video adapter.

You can compare it with your thinkpad T60 to see the differences.
