IDEA!...would this work for a better video card?????

#1 Post by Crunch » Sun Mar 16, 2008 7:05 pm

Hey all,

I was wondering if I could add a second video card by removing the WWAN card, which I won't use anyway, and put a mini-PCI graphics card into it. The BIOS whitelist is history, thanks to Zender! 8)

The size of removable mini-PCI graphics cards and WWAN cards is the same, if I'm not mistaken??? Then we could all get dual-graphics systems maybe??? 8) 8) 8)

i've never heard of a mini-pci-E graphics card. Then after that, how would you get it hooked up to the LCD?

Any Mini-PCI-E cards out there has to be expensive if they are better than the built in ones?

   I can dream, can't I? When I put my CPU in, I noticed the embedded ( ) ATI chip...Although I don't need it, it would be ultrahot, though. Dual gfx...Oh well....................

How about an expresscard to PCI-express breakout box?

http://www.expresscard.org/web/site/cons_wtb.jsp#pcie

It is designed for users to put video or raid cards. It will only work with an external monitor though.

That looks hot. Well, I want to get an external monitor but then again, my ATI V5200 plays Bluray 1080p's on my Thinkpad LCD, so will a better video card really do me no good?? Thanks! ;)

well if not for graphics why would you want a "better" video card? You can use the advanced mini-doc and just run some huge 24" LCDs and be happy :) You can get the advanced dock and put a PCI-Express card in there too to play games with better FPS and resolution too.
