Fingerprint driver for Vista SP1

I bought the fastest, highest spec T61 I could configure in December. With Vista. Which means it's unfeasibly slow.
I'm serious, from a cold start, it takes 10 minutes before I can send an email, after a couple of minutes of "Microsoft Outlook (Not responding)". Waking up from standby can take a minute or more. I'm so bored of it.

Hooray that SP1 is now available, even though I know it'll be no magic wand. It might improve matters however.

But I can't get it because the driver for the fingerprint scanner is on the verboten list for SP1 (UPEK Fingerprint Sensor with the Tcusb.sys driver file – version 1.9.2.99, see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343#method5).

How long must I dangle here in purgatory with this wretched slow computer? Finally microsoft gets round to releasing sp1 and Lenovo are behind with their drivers?

Yawn!

Has anyone else got a magic wand?

try this

I've been using the fingerprint reader after installing SP1 without problems for about a month.

i've been using the same ThinkVantage driver (5.6) that came out for Vista on Vista SP1. I got the MSDN version so it's already integrated and the driver works just fine.

Vista on my T60 (specs in sig) runs Vista great and i "only get a 4.0" score.

If i were you i'd try a full (clean) install and then install only the apps you need.

I have however downloaded the latest drivers (1.9.2.111) and used those instead. I dind't have a problem with previous ones tho... or maybe i did and just didn't realize :) Thanks for the notice!

and it worked

Downloaded the driver from that URL, rebooted, and SP1 installed just peachy keen. No observed problems (yet.)

Thank you rgrossha,
that driver did the trick. SP1 installed happily now.
Top stuff, thanks for everyone's help.
